MEET MR. CHIEU

As one of the core members of Sybil Agri. Mr. Phan Viet Chieu has been working with Sybil Agri since the early days of its establishment, with more than 20 years of experience in the pepper industry.

He conducted trial planting of different varieties of pepper at Sybil Agri’s farm; combining his own methods, techniques, experience and Sybil Agri staff have been established and developed the partnership program between Sybil Agri and farmers in many localities.

The SFPP program had the participation of more than 3,000 farmers with about 5,000 hectares of pepper growing areas that met the standards: GAP, GlobalGAP, Rainforest Alliance.

Mr. Chieu said: “The SFPP program is a bilateral cooperation program between Sybil Agri and farmers. On the one hand, the program helps Sybil Agri to expand the quality supply of products that are controlled from cultivation to harvesting under the supervision of Sybil Agri staff.

On the other hand, the program helps farmers get stable output, along with efficient farming methods, modern techniques that take human health as the basis to develop products, unlike other farming traditional methods . In addition, SFPP is also a place to exchange, study and support each other among community members. My own biggest wish is to see Vietnamese agricultural products available and consumed in all parts of the world.

MEET MR. SON

Mr. Tran Quang Son living hamlet 1, Nam Yang commune, Dak Doa district (Gia Lai) is one of the experienced farmers in the pepper industry, besides he is one of the core members in the sustainable development cooperation program with Sybil Agri from the very beginning.

When it comes to Mr. Son, no one in the pepper industry does not know him and the products and initiatives that he has contributed to this industry such as infrared dried red pepper, infrared dryer, etc.

With more than 25 years of experience in the pepper industry, he cooperated with Sybil Agri to support more than 60 members with more than 100 hectares of area for sustainable pepper production in Nam Yang commune, 36/60 members have been certified with Viet GAP standards on the basis of pepper industry with area of 25 ha.

Through the production linkage model, members are guided in the production process to improve the quality of the material area.

In order to improve the quality of clean pepper products being grown locally, Mr. Son has successfully researched and invented a clean pepper dryer with infrared ray. It took Mr. Son 6 years to successfully invent this pepper dryer because the machine must have fresh pepper for testing in the harvest season.

Pepper drying machine by infrared ray both saves money in investment for farmers and is easy to use, keeping the pure taste, color, essential oil in each peppercorn according to international standards, contributing to improving quality and bringing clean pepper to domestic and foreign markets. The success of a clean pepper dryer helps many farmers in the Nam Yang commune to overcome the crisis of pepper depreciation in the country because of inorganic production.

Currently, Sybil Agri and Mr. Son are working together to deploy the SFFP project to more regions and at the same time promoting the research and development process of modern machinery and equipment to minimize the harmful factors to pepper gardens of farmer, build a sustainable pepper growing model, help life of farmer to be improved and affluent; on the other hand, ensuring good quality output is suitable with the needs of the international market.

EXPERIENCE SHARING

Monthly, Sybil Agri will organize seminars, training programs to guide farmers in planting and caring techniques for pepper in accordance with the standards of the “SFPP” project. In addition, Sybil Agri will visit the pepper gardens of the farmers participating in the program to analyze the soil, water, seeds and deal with the problems of the plants to help farmers understand the current situation of the pepper garden from which they have suitable cultivation techniques for the development of pepper plants.

In addition to the technical measures used in farming, Sybil Agri also aims to change the perception of farmers and help them understand the benefits and importance of building and developing a sustainable pepper ecosystem.  Through the programs, farmers will both change their perception of cultivation towards sustainability while they are also accumulating techniques, methods and experiences to apply to their farms.
