Cashew nuts are regarded as one of the most delicious nuts, with a great nutritional value for human health.

From 2006 until the present, known as the world’s No. 1 cashew exporter for 15 consecutive years, Vietnamese cashew nuts have been exported to 90 countries and territories around the world.

In addition, Vietnam is also considered to have a higher cashew yield than the global average.

CASHEW GROWING AREA IN VIETNAM

Cashew nuts are mostly farmed in the Southern regions of Vietnam, with a concentration in the Central Highlands and Southeast provinces. 

According to statistics of Department of Crop Production, the cashew growing area nationwide in 2020 will reach 302,500 hectares with a harvested area of ​​280,000 hectares, the average yield is 1.25 tons/ha, the total output is estimated at 339,800 tons/year, of which cashew nut exported in 2020 reached 511 thousand tons, worth 3.188 billion USD with the average export price of cashews was 6,245 USD/ton.

HARVEST SEASON OF CASHEW NUT

The cashew season varies by nation, in Vietnam, the cashew season will range from February to June. Since cashew trees are cultivated in various locations, their flavors will vary, in all the cashew production places, cashew nut is grown in Binh Phuoc province of the Southeast region, known as a famous cashew nut production area in Vietnam, and this place is considered as the capital of cashew nut in Vietnam not only that, Binh Phuoc has been recognized as a Geographical Indication of the nut.

Thanks to the warm tropical climate and fertile basalt soil in Vietnam, especially Binh Phuoc province, it creates favorable conditions for cashew trees to grow and develop well. The cashew season in Binh Phuoc typically lasts from January through April. The cashew area here is presently over 170,000 hectares, with an annual output of 243,000 tons, accounting for more than half of the nation’s cashew nut output.
